Ethan Rose

No.8 U19 BWF Badminton Player

Overview

Ethan has always been into sport of some kind. Running around a squash court at 18 months old was the start of his enthusiasm to have a racket in his hand. Ethan’s mother is Sue Rose (nee Wright), former World No.3 and Commonwealth Games squash player.

At four after a trip to Centre Parcs and a game of badminton, Ethan asked to join a badminton club on our return home. Ethan is now considered one of the top rising stars of the badminton world winning the U17 French International Championships in 2019. He also won three U19 International Championships in Belgium, German and Finland, and a bronze medal at the U17 European Championships earlier last year.

Ethan started 2020 in historic fashion by becoming the first men’s English singles player to be ranked in the top eight in the world on the Under 19 BWF World junior rankings since records began in 2012.

I am really thrilled and proud to have made a little bit of badminton history and made the world top eight under 19 ranking. However, my aim this year is to continue to climb the junior rankings, but there will now be more of a focus on getting more experience at senior level and improving my senior world ranking as well.
