The entry list has been confirmed for the $15,000 ITF M15 event at The Campus, Quinta do Lago in mid-March, with some of the brightest young players in the game on their way to Portugal for an eagerly anticipated tournament.

Played on the magnificent outdoor hard courts at The Campus, last year’s tournament was won by highly rated Spanish teenager Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who has gone on to make his mark on the senior ATP tour in the last 12 months as he knocks on the door of the world’s top 200.

The 2017 junior Wimbledon champion was in sparkling form as he won the first ITF event at The Campus last March and in the opinion of the club’s head coach Zé Pereira Lopes, this year’s event is set to be even more spectacular as some of the game’s rising stars look to gather ranking points that will allow them to enter more prestigious ATP Tour events.

We saw some fantastic tennis at the ITF event at The Campus last year and everyone is looking forward to another great tournament in 2019,” says Coach Zé, ahead of this year’s tournament that will run from March 18th until March 24th.”

The standard of tennis at this level of the game is incredible and it shows the quality you need to have to make it in the professional ranks and move towards a top 100 ranking. “Our aim is to stage the best event possible and we feel we have some of the best courts and great organization for the players that come to play here. We are all so excited to welcome some great players to The Campus once again.”

A new-look ITF calendar in 2019 means competitions like the tournament at The Campus are being designed to provide a more effective pathway linking the ITF Junior Circuit and the senior professional game.

A large number of junior players are competing on the professional circuit, but the transition to the top 100 in the APT rankings is taking longer, so the ITF has come up with a more localised circuit structure that reduces costs for players and tournament organizers.

This will also increase opportunities for players from more countries to join the pathway and be supported in their transition to the professional ATP tour. The $15,000 prize money on offer at The Campus event is a lucrative amount of prize money for players which, combined with valuable ranking points collected, will assist players progressing to higher level ATP tournaments.

Players attending the ITF World Tennis Tour M15 event at The Campus can look forward to magnificent facilities. With the high quality hard courts in play, accompanied by the newly launched state of the art high-performance fitness center that includes top of the range gym equipment and world class recovery and wellness facilities, which will be welcome after a tough match.

Dano’s restaurant situated adjacent to the tennis courts will be the perfect place for players to unwind after a tough day on court, with the stylish The Magnolia Hotel offering affordable accommodation for a stay at Quinta do Lago.

Andres Fernandez Canovas (Age 19)

Sitting at the top of the draw for the M15 event at The Campus this Spanish teenager won his first ITF doubles title in 2017 and he will be eager to add singles glory to his record at Quinta do Lago.

Luis Diego Chavez (Age 23)

This Bolivian has been playing tennis since the age of five and he has been battling to make a break onto the main ATP Tour by playing on the ITF circuit in recent years.

Evan Morgan (Age 17)

A Portuguese player who is certain to have good support from local fans at The Campus, he is cutting his teeth on the ITF tour and is tipped to make his mark at a higher level.
