Australian L’ALPINA launch 2018 Spring Summer men’s lifestyle collection at Jacket Required at The Old Truman Brewery in London on the 26th & 27th July 2017.

A brand with over 60 years of heritage, L’ALPINA Maglierie Sportive S.p.A. was founded by Leardo Gabrielli in Milan in 1946 with the aim to produce and distribute a new line of knitwear for ski. A few years later, a line of haute couture under the Gabrielli label was formed with the collaboration of up and coming young designers such as Armani and Ferrè.

In 1956 L’ALPINA created the brand Australian using a Kangaroo as its logo, reflecting the dominance of Australian players in the world of tennis, such as Rod Laver and Ken Roswell. By the 80’s, Australian L’Alpina was being worn on court by some of the top tennis players in the world such as Ivan Lendl, Goran Ivanisevic and Jiri Novak.

Today Australian L’ALPINA, is still remaining true to its roots by sponsoring several Wimbledon tennis players, including former British No.2 and Davis Cup winner James Ward and 2017 French Open wheelchair Singles champion and current Men’s Wimbledon Wheelchair Doubles champion Alfie Hewett.

Australian L’ALPINA is  renowned as a heritage Italian tennis brand around the world and is now launching in the UK with an exciting new men’s lifestyle collection. Bringing a touch of nostalgia to everyday garments, continuing to make ‘retro-active wear’ accessible to the millennials.

Retro sportswear brands are on trend. Streetwear brands have gently taken over, with a variety of sub culture’s emerging in cities around the globe from Moscow, Kiev and London to Paris, Tokyo, Melbourne, Amsterdam and Berlin.

You only need to look at social media to see that it is ablaze with edgy photography of brands that we are subconsciously familiar with, but may have been forgotten about some years ago. Designer nostalgia has become something of a pop culture phenomenon in recent years, with the arrival of the 2010’s pushing the 1980’s and 1990’s firmly into the retro zone.

This revival of styles from times gone by has seen many once-popular brands re-emerge, tapping into the renewed obsession for all things old school. With ‘sports luxe’ currently dominating industry trends, it comes as no surprise that classic active wear names are experiencing a renaissance, be it over ten, twenty or more years later.

Despite the growing trend of sportswear brands to relocate their production, Australian L’ALPINA still manufactures in Italy, some sixty years later, a unique guarantee of quality and style. Australian L’ALPINA continues to develop the shapes and fabrics that have made their products unmistakable in both style and cut. The special care over detail, the ‘Made in Italy’ production and the search for new fabrics and styles make the Australian L’ALPINA product unique, desirable and distinguishable.

Using natural fibres as well as technical sports fabrics, quality, comfort and longevity are the cornerstone of their recent men’s lifestyle collection. The new Australian L’ALPINA collection is just right for today’s men, who want something that is practical and elegant, either for sports activity and for everyday wear.

Australian L’ALPINA Head of Design, Lorenzo Maioli:

“The quality, comfort and pleasing aesthetics of the entire range is a combination that has come with a lot of time and persistence. We’re really excited that we’ve been able to meet the demand for a classic collection, with a modern twist and look forward to innovating, expanding and diversifying into different products and territories, soon.”
