July 2016: Tennis lovers inspired by the return of The Wimbledon Championships can hone their racket skills by booking a tennis break with leading active holiday specialist, Neilson. Former GB tennis player Mark Petchey has been appointed as the tennis ambassador and consultant this season as Neilson launches the Mark Petchey Tennis Programme.

Mark is a leading figure in the tennis community, having coached Andy Murray and appearing regularly as a commentator on Sky Sports and the BBC.  Andy Murrays in the making can practice their serve with group and one-on-one training from coaches Mark Petchey has taught. Neilson and Mark’s joint-vision is to enable everyone to improve their tennis skills, no matter what their level, and the sun-drenched tennis courts of Beachclubs in Greece and Turkey provide the perfect setting to do so.

Neilson’s Beachclubs offer inclusive group tennis coaching for all ages and abilities. Guests signing up to tennis coaching are carefully grouped by ability to ensure each session drills down to the skills that need improving. Mark Petchey has worked closely with the Neilson team to enhance the format of coaching sessions, ensuring that no matter what their ability, guests can leave their holiday a more confident player. Neilson has over 20 coaches across its properties all of whom are qualified by the LTA at level 2 or PTR Level 1 (Professional Tennis Registry).

High quality tennis equipment is free to use across all Neilson Beachclubs, rackets and balls are supplied by Babolat, one of the oldest companies specialising in racquet sports. There are 20 tennis courts in total across seven of Neilson’s eight Beachclubs, most of which have floodlights, allowing free play and friendly matches right into the evening. The weekly Neilson tennis tournaments offer a great chance for guests to put their newly honed skills to the test and be in with a chance of taking home a trophy.
For more advanced players, Messini Beachclub offers a ‘premium tennis package’ in which professional coaches offer intensive tennis training in small groups. Guests will also receive a daily coaching video as well as a 30-minute one-on-one sessions to ensure rapid progression. Junior coaching sessions for children between eight and 14 are available during the school holidays.
When guests aren’t busy perfecting their back-hand, Neilson’s Beachclubs are located on idyllic waterfront locations complete with sandy beaches with sailing areas as well as offering impressive treatment rooms and spas for post-court relaxation and pampering.
