Great Britain’s Federation Cup team Captain and mother to former Wimbledon Champion Andy and former Wimbledon Mixed Doubles Champion Jamie, Judy Murray, will host a tennis coaching master-class for a group of 10 -14 year old performance players as part of HEAD’s global player sponsorship programme aimed at supporting young, talented tennis players, in more than 40 countries around the world.
Judy, who is an ambassador for HEAD tennis racquets in the UK, will run the tennis coaching master-class on Wednesday 3rd June at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
This will be carried out with HEAD Tennis partners Living Tennis Academy, a specialist tennis coaching academy who manage and provide a range of tennis coaching at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre.
The coaching master-class will also see Judy host a parents and players Q & A session, giving them an opportunity to ask her for tips and advice on how best to develop their game and their tennis career.
HEAD will also give a ‘tech talk’ on the launch of recent HEAD apparel ranges of racquets, footwear, clothing and balls.
“Providing young players with good coaching and support is important to me, so I am looking forward to once again spending the day with some of Team HEAD’s leading junior players. I’ve been using HEAD racquets for about 15 years and remember when my son, Andy, was part of Team HEAD. I understand how important it is for young players to have the right support around them so that they can fulfil their potential and enjoy their tennis.”
Judy is well equipped to offer advice and support to young players. Her son, Andy being a former Wimbledon Singles Champion and son Jamie former Mixed Doubles Champion. Judy has also been Great Britain’s Fed Cup team captain since 2011, having previously been a Scottish national coach for nine years. In addition to mentoring Great Britain’s leading female tennis players, Judy is also passionate about improving tennis facilities throughout the country, attracting more girls to take up tennis at a grassroots level and increasing the number of female coaches.
Dave Shaw, HEAD UK General Manager said:
“Both HEAD and Judy are passionate about offering the best coaching and support for promising young players and elite professionals. We are delighted to offer a unique opportunity for our top Team HEAD players and their parents to have the opportunity to work with Judy. Giving them the chance to learn from someone who has been involved in the journey from grassroots tennis through to winning Wimbledon.”
Team HEAD players benefit from partnerships with other well-known coaches like Bob Brett and Emilio Sanchez. Unlike many other sponsored players in tennis, HEAD’s junior players not only receive the best equipment but they become part of Team HEAD family of globally sponsored juniors.
Some of today’s leading tennis players such as Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Richard Gasquet have come through the Team HEAD programme and continue to use HEAD racquets. Team HEAD’s current crop of junior players have also shown promise for the future, with players such as 17 year old Alexander Zverev moving up to 122 in the ATP World Rankings.
